Change in Lincolnshire

The following was first published in the February 1970 issue of the Railway World magazine.

A dmu for Mablethorpe passes the 1340 Mablethorpe to Sheffield at Willoughby on August 9th, 1969.
Skegness, although retaining services, was built for palmier days of heavy traffic, particularly excursions. A dmu waits to leave for Lincoln on July 9, 1969.

The 1522 from Firsby to Lincoln passes the 1600 Lincoln to Tumby Woodside at Bardney on the direct Lincoln - Firsby line via Woodhall Junction.
G.N. somersault signals still abound in the area, as for example this home and distant at Sutton-on-Sea.
Mablethorpe station, the terminus of the branch from Willoughby since the line beyond to Louth was closed some years ago.
Another somersault signal, this time at Firsby.
Firsby station will be closed, although trains will still use the south to east curve in running to and from Skegness. A dmu waits to leave Firsby for Skegness on July 9, 1969.
