47283 at Skegness (1984)

Skegness on Saturday 7th July 1984. 47283 had arrived with the 1E85 0932 SO from Derby earlier. Passengers having alighted, the empty train has reversed into the carriage sidings and the locomotive detatched and moved forward. Senior Railman John Thornley (seen on the left of the picture), has been appointed  shunter for the day, and is about to pull the lever to change the points to allow the locomotive to travel on a parallel siding, and then be attached to the other end. It will then reverse back into the station to form the 1M35 1238 SO service to Derby.

47283 was built at Crewe Works, entering service on 17th January 1966 as D1985. It was withdrawn on 31st August 2004 and scrapped on 30th September of the same year.
