45103 and 58039 at Skegness (1986)

Skegness on Saturday 20th September 1986. 45103 awaits departure on the 1E02 1043 to Sheffield. This summer Saturday service was non-stop to Nottingham which it reached in an impressive 105 minutes, scheduled to arrive there at 12.28. New on 1st September 1961 as D116, after just under 27 years service, 45103 was withdrawn on 2nd August 1988, and scrapped by MC Metals (Springburn) on 24th August 1990.

Behind is 58039 "Rugeley Power Station", the first class 58 to reach Skegness. It was on the Hertfordshire Railtours "Lincolnshire Coast Pullman", which had worked in from King's Cross, and was awaiting to depart on its next leg to Cleethorpes by way of Sleaford, Lincoln, and Doncaster. 58039 was new in March 1986 and withdrawn on 30th December 1999. It currently resides at Alizay Depot, Rouen, France, awaiting scrapping.
