37042 at Skegness (1985)

Aptly illustrating the busy nature of summer Saturdays at Skegness station in the 1980's; 37042 is seen after arrival on platform 5 having worked the 1E17 0710 summer Saturday  through train from Sheffield on 20th July 1985. It would be a quick turnaround: Once all passengers had alighted, it would reverse into the carriage sidings for the locomotive to be detatched, then reattached to the front end. After reversing back into platform 5, loaded with outgoing passengers, thence off at 1043 with the 1E02 service to Sheffield, non-stop to Nottingham.

37042 entered service on 15th June 1962, as D6742. It has since been preserved.
