Boston to Spalding - What Remains?

The easy answer to what remains of this section is "very little", as the majority of the trackbed now lies under the main A16 road. However, odd bits and reminders to it are still to be found today (Images: Google Street View).

The Railway public house located on London Road in Boston once stood close to the level crossing. Now the A16 which can be seen on the left.
The site of Kirton Station. The remains of the station were completely obliterated when the road was constructed, the only reminder to it ever being there is the sign for Station Road, which leads off to the right.
One remarkable survivor is Algakirk & Sutterton Station complete with Goods Shed.
Surfleet was less fortunate and, like Kirton, completely gone except for the entrance to the Goods Yard.
Looking toward the location of the station, the A16 on the right runs along the former railway line.
The Riverside pub on the right, was formerly the Great Northern Hotel. On the left of the front of the car park was where the signalbox was located.
The point where the A16 leaves the former trackbed and heads left to skirt Spalding. The line continued directly ahead through where the trees are. The aerial view (Google Earth) clarifies this.
On the outskirts of Pinchbeck and the site of the former level crossing with the B1180, the Crossing Keeper's house is still extant.
The former trackbed is also quite clear at this point. Looking north, this section did remain open to freight until 1980 to serve the British Sugar Factory. It was lifted 2 years later.
Unfortunately, in the opposite direction, the trackbed has been redeveloped.
Looking at an aerial view, the bridge which carried the line over Vernatt's Drain is still there.
In Spalding, the crossing house on Pinchbeck Road still exists, the trackbed running on the right is now a footpath.
Unfortunately, in the opposite direction looking towards Spalding Station, the trackbed is now very overgrown.
