Radio 2 Railshow

After a successful tour of the South-West of England in summer 1985, the BBC Radio 2 Railshow was back on the rails two years later utilising suitably liveried British Rail Exhibition Stock.

First on the list of visits was Aberystwyth on 10th August 1987, thence, on subsequent days; Llandudno, Morecambe, and Scarborough. On Friday 14th it was in Skegness, stabled on platform 3 having arrived the previous evening.

Some shows were broadcast live from the Train and Railway Station.
Friday was normally a quiet day for travel, aside from the local passenger services, the only through train of the day was from Sheffield.

An image taken from You Tube footage, shows 47526 hauling the carriages past Barkston Junction on the East Coast Main Line, on the evening of Thursday 13th August. It was on its way from Scarborough to Grantham where it would be reversed, and continue to Skegness.
